From Runway to Resort.
Get the scoop on this season's best looks from Preston Schroeder, One&Only's ever stylish Director of Retail.
(September/October - Spring/Summer2012)
The Pant is the New Skirt:
Whether part of a suit or worn with a chunky knit, the pant is ,kink. The best looks feature a fitted pant with a short, oversized T-Shirt and Platform Shoe. On a beach holiday, try a jumpsuit - Preston's Favourites, available at One&Only boutiques, are by Missoni.
Matching Prints are Charming:
This Autumn it's all about wearing the same print on both top and bottom. Preston can't get enough of the Camilla round-neck caftans he has in One&Only shops, which can be worn with matching leggings in myraid ways.
Build with colour blocks:
Preston loves to combine the season's ubiquitous colour-blocking trend pairing a bright. monochrome bag with a otherwise all-over-patterned ensemble.
All that glitters is Gold:
The rich metallic hue is everywhere, from heavily decorated brocade trouser-suites to caftans with stone-embelished necklines. Preston turns to Stella McCartney, with her Gold Lurex top and matching Crop Pant, for thge winning medal here.
Platforms' Popularity goes sky high:
The Platform shoe is top this season - blissfully so, as they're the best way to add hight without sacrificing comfort. Preston's perennial favourite is Charlotte Olympia"s classis signature platform, Dolly, in One&Only Boutiques right now.
Oversized tops are tops:
This growing trend is bigger than ever, but you'll want to wear it in a way that accenturates your body. Try skinny jeans topped by a fitted tank and an oversized chiffon T-shirt. Preston loved the beautiful dequin-embellished smake-print one he's carrying by Marie France Van Damme.
Animals Run Wild:
But not in the same-old leopard-spot or Zebra-stripe kind of way, This season Preston sees entire animals on clothing - birds on skirts, dogs on bags and, as you can see in the Stella McCartney selection at One&Only, Cheetah on shirts.
The Waist is Where it's at:
Cinched-waist 1940's-era looks that eccentuate the hips are back in a big way this fall, best worn in a long fitted gown with a peplum (a short ruffle or overskirt at the waist) which emphassises the aesthetic even more. Try with an oversized clutch.
Neon:
Ultra-bright, not seen-in-nature hues are huge right now. For a subtle flash of the stuff, Preston suggests stopping by the boutique to pick up one of Bex Rox's Gold-Cuff Lattice-like bracelets, woventhrough with neon in various shades. Totally on trend, they brighten up any outfit for day or night.
